Some Nutritional and Lifestyle tips:
· Eat 4-6 small meals throughout the day. At 250-350 calories per meal, depending on your workout routine and goals.
· Try to eat food you cooked at home and not anything bought at a restaurant. This is the best way to gauge what ingredients you are eating. Get in the habit of having your meals and water with you in a cooler.
· Incorporate more fibrous vegetables into your meals; such as asparagus, broccoli, spinach, etc.
· Have a multi vitamin once or twice throughout the day with one or two of your meals.
· Incorporate a serious workout routine at least 4 times per week.
· No cheesy or oily dressings on salads. Lay off mayonnaise at all costs.
· No snacking sugary or cheesy stuff. No matter how tempting the packaging.
· No sodas. Water is your friend so drink plenty of it.
· Coffee is ok as long as you go easy on the sugar. No creamy additives please.
· Weigh yourself once a week for accountability. Know where you stand and what your goal is with that weight scale.
· Try to have your last meal 3 to 4 hours prior to going to bed.
· Tell your friends and coworkers about your dietary and weight goals so that they can help you rather than sabotage you by tempting you inadvertently.
· Read up on some healthy lifestyle books. Don’t believe the hype of magazine articles and the advertised super special diet pills. Basic good foods beat any supplement.
· This is a learning process for you and your family. This is information you can help others with once you adapt it to your own life. Keep reading and learning. Love yourself, your friends, and your family. Fight the good fight.
· Join an exercise group outside of the gym atmosphere. A bicycle riding group, yoga class, martial arts, boot camp, etc. Make it fun with variety.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7
“It is inevitable that some defeat will enter even the most victorious life. The human spirit is never finished when it is defeated…it is finished when it surrenders.”
Ben Stein
